crestron_logo-210Crestron Masters 2015 Welcomes 500+ Industry Professionals

Annual Professional Development Classes & Seminars Help CSPs Sharpen their Skills in Ever-Changing Industry

Now in its twelfth year, Crestron Masters brings some of the best Crestron partners from around the globe to New Jersey for three days of advanced instruction, hardware and software previews, and discussions with Crestron executives and engineers about hot topics in the industry. This year, 500+ industry professionals will converge on the Dolce Palisades IBM Conference Center campus to brush up on their programming and learn some new tricks and tips. A big part of this year’s class will be an in-depth look at SIMPL#, Crestron’s premier development environment for building powerful and flexible Crestron control system applications.

This year’s Masters promises to be the biggest and best ever. The three-day immersion will kick-off with a keynote by Crestron CEO, Randy Klein and CTO, Fred Bargetzi, followed by two full days of smaller classes, and a closing ceremony.  In addition to a briefing on SIMPL#, attendees will have the opportunity to attend classes on topics such as Crestron Fusion®, Smart Graphics™, streaming audio and video with DigitalMedia™, integrating commercial lighting solutions with building management systems, optimizing the touch screen UI, and much more.

The Code Café will offer attendees the opportunity to upload, test, and/or complete the programs they created in class to a Crestron 3-Series® Control Processor throughout the week. Technical Support staff will be available to assist. And the Tech Expo area will be available for attendees to take a hands-on look at many new and interesting Crestron products.

The Masters program was created after the CAIP program was formalized. Programmers needed to be kept up-to-date on new hardware and software solutions. Masters Classes became a vehicle for programmers to look at product beyond what they saw at industry tradeshows or absorbed during Basic Programming classes. Programmers also have the opportunity to network with their peers and share knowledge, tips, and tricks. Those who attend achieve silver, gold, or platinum status, depending on how many classes they attend and exams they pass.

One of the main oversights discussed during thousands of conversations with dealers all over the world is that most don’t fully comprehend the true cost of a truck roll. Integrators of the “Internet of Things” (IOT) often include a free warranty support period ranging from 90 days to as long as a year. During this period of time, the cost implications to roll a truck out to a customer site have an even greater impact. That’s because it’s the installer who is going to eat the cost, quite often even after the warranty period has expired.

ihiji - truck-rollIntegrators may choose to own or lease their vans and have full time technicians on staff to cover their support requirements. Another option we have seen is to completely subcontract the support calls entirely to a third party. At the end of the day, you will need to make the decision one way or another on how you will cover your support needs in the most  advantageous and cost effective way for your business. On the revenue side, many forward-thinking technology integrators have come up with a proactive network managed services plan for their clients, charging a monthly or annual fee. Others charge the client for each truck roll they make. Still others won’t even offer a warranty unless all devices are being remotely monitored. Whether the installer is eating the cost, or making a profit from the service, choosing correctly has become a business critical issue for IOT  integrators of all sizes. Monitor Audio Introduces the Gold Series

Moitor Gold 1Monitor Audio’s enduring Gold Series speaker line has been refined with significant design upgrades to bring out the best in its award-winning provenance. The new range is dubbed simply ‘Gold’ to reflect the purity of the latest addition to a decade-long lineage that includes three acclaimed generations. While it duplicates the form-factor of the Gold GX range it replaces, the new ‘Gold’ line-up is equipped with a trinity of enhancements: an evolution of the C-CAM® Rigid Surface Technology (RST®) bass cone employed by the Gold GR and Gold GS predecessors; tighter production tolerances for its advanced C-CAM ribbon tweeter, and a smarter more functional cloth grille design. Rejuvenated by these improvements, the new eight-strong Gold range offers greater transparency, consistency and visual sophistication to every design-aware music lover.

Monitor Gold TweeterThe Gold series ribbon is derived from the globally acclaimed Platinum C-CAM ribbon transducer. Mechanically it’s identical to the GX ribbon but by improving production tolerances even further, we’ve discovered that the new model offers a consistently more open and transparent sound. In part, the sense of greater detail and enhanced imaging may be attributed to the closer matching of tweeter pairs in each stereo system. The ribbon’s fabulously

efficient wideband design reproduces the authentic tonal character of frequencies beyond 60kHz, as well as the inherent nature of the mid-band vocal region to which the ear is most sensitive.

Further tuned by FEA tools, the Gold series bass units utilise an evolved version of the dimpled RST cone surface introduced on the Gold GR and GS ranges. It takes the form of a continuous radiating dish devoid of the central voice-coil aperture. Instead, a longer voice coil and larger motor sit behind the cone in a more efficient drive assembly, which offers greater drive force, longer excursions and lower distortion, producing cleaner, more extended and accurate bass definition. Although the motor design is unchanged from GX, back-to-back listening tests have demonstrated that across all four stereo models new Gold sounds more open and dynamic, with a soundstage that is both taller and wider.
