BEAM Central Vacuum System Introduces Hide-A-Hose™ Out-of-Sight Hose Complements Superior Cleaning Capability

BEAM Central Vacuum Systems by Electrolux is taking central vacuum cleaning convenience to a new level with Hide-A-Hose™, a fully built-in system that offers dealers a profitable opportunity to make central vacuum systems more convenient than ever before.

The entire Hide-A-Hose stores in a SmartTube™ system inside an interior wall, eliminating the need for closet storage. The user simply pulls the amount of hose needed from the inlet valve, connects the cleaning wand and attachments and starts cleaning. When finished, the user detaches the wand and allows the power of the BEAM Central Vacuum System power unit to retract the hose back into the wall. The entire hose is out of sight.

For dealers, Hide-A-Hose offers a high-value upgrade that eliminates the need for closet storage space. It also can result in simpler installation. The Hide-A-Hose can be much longer than the traditional 30-foot long central vacuum hose — long enough to cover up to 2,300 square feet of living space. That means fewer inlet valves. The system can be customized with hose lengths ranging from 10 to 60 feet and it can be installed in both new and existing homes.

A BEAM Central Vacuum System with Hide-A-Hose comes with a wand, a turbo brush for cleaning carpets and a full set of cleaning tools. A variety of installation options makes it ideal for quick cleanups in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry and mudrooms. It also makes quick work of cleaning large surfaces such as hardwood or tile floors or even the garage and the cars inside it.

“We are excited to enter into a distribution agreement to make Hide-A-Hose available through the outstanding BEAM dealer network. This arrangement will assure consumers throughout the United States can have the unmatched cleaning convenience of our product,” says Rod Drivstuen, president of Hide-A-Hose, Inc.

FSR’s New Flex Control System Powers Three Monitor Walls for Victory World Church

Woodland Park, NJ (January , 2010) — FSR’s new Flex-LT self-contained control system is providing significant flexibility for Victory World Church located in Norcross, GA.  The unit is enabling the Church to multipurpose three recently installed monitor walls by allowing users to easily toggle between static functions, such as announcements, and video presentations.

db Audio & Video, a Georgia-based provider of audio, video, control and acoustic design services, served as the systems integrator for the project.   “The Flex is fantastic,” states Ron Stanford, db Audio & Video’s sales/audio/video specialist. “It allows the user to easily choose and change the source, whether the wall is to be used for digital signage or as a single source presentation display. It’s so simple, yet fills an incredible need and replaces the traditional video projector with an elegant, unobtrusive solution.”

Victory World Church is using the Flex to power three Samsung monitor walls located in the elementary school and the children’s ministry worship area.  The Flex-LT facilitates room control at the touch of a button. It allows users to toggle between announcements during the school week and video presentations on the weekends.

Flex can either be mounted in a wall or sit on a desk and presents the user with an easy-to-use and understand color touch screen that controls the source being displayed, volume, lights, shades or screen.  A built-in scheduler automatically shuts off displays that are not in use – making it an energy-saving device – and can deliver an alert if there is an issue in the room, such as an elevated lamp life that needs attention.

Kramer Electronics’ Kent Cawthorne Promoted to Vice President of Sales

Kramer Electronics USA, Inc., is pleased to announce as of January 1, 2011, Kent Cawthorne has been promoted to Vice President of Sales for both the Kramer and Sierra Video brands.  With this promotion Kent will manage the Kramer Sales team and he will be responsible for all sales of both brands through the Pro AV dealer channel.

Dave Bright, President of Kramer USA, stated “This is the second promotion for Kent in less than a year.  The move from National Sales Manager to VP of Sales is a natural progression.  The second promotion came a little sooner than originally planned, but with all of the re-organizing and expansion planned to our sales and sales support groups, it makes more sense for Kent to have more voice in the decisions to be made about programs and personnel from day one of 2011.”

Kent joined Kramer in 2008 with an extensive background in A/V and broadcast sales. He began his career as a sales manager at the dealer level in the Pro AV channel, focused on developing customer relationships for broadcast, production, corporate and educational customers.  Subsequently he moved to the manufacturing side of the industry and has held various management positions with such companies as Sony, Pacifiq Technologies, Panasonic and Grass Valley.  Prior to joining Kramer, Kent served as VP of Channel Sales for QuStream where he developed a variety of very successful sales strategies and initiatives.

As Kramer’s Vice President of Sales, Cawthorne will be responsible for managing the Kramer Pro AV dealer channel sales team.  All Kramer Regional Sales Managers and Inside Sales Administrators will report to him.  Kent will be charged with managing and increasing the sales of Kramer and Sierra Products in the Pro AV channel, a task his background makes him ideally suited for.

“Over the past few years, Kent has proven that he is just as good a sales manager as he is a salesman.  His experience, sound judgment and tireless work/travel ethic have set the tone for our entire sales organization.  He has raised the bar for everyone under him and leads by example.  For 2011, we are arming Kent and his group with the best programs and largest dealer sales force ever.  I am sure he will run with them and continue Kramer’s history of double digit annual growth,” Bright added.

Cawthorne graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

THIEL enjoyed yet another successful Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Our new SCS4T was introduced in an active stereo system with a pair of our SmartSub® sub woofers. The SCS4T marks the first time THIEL has developed a floorstanding loudspeaker that uses only a coaxial/coincident 2-way driver system. They were amplified by a pair of Bryston 7BSST2 amplifiers and their new BDP-1 digital music player, with Wirewolrld’s best cables and a suite of Torus Power products.

Tom Norton of Stereophile said of what he heard: “the Thiel room, one of the first I visited, sounded so honest and right that for me it represented the sort of value that most of the higher-end products could not manage”.  Chris Connaker of Computer Audiophile wrote “I believe this room was setup very well in contrast to many rooms with extremely bright, in-your-face, bull horn sound with music bouncing off every flat surface in sight. The more I listened the more I liked the Bryston / Thiel sound”. Attendance was up and the vibe around the show the most positive and fun in three years.

Speaking of the SCS4T, by the time you read this, THIEL will be shipping this new floorstander. Priced at $3690 per pair and available in three real hardwood finishes, the SCS4T features the late Jim Thiel’s famous coaxial Power Driver, an aluminum baffle, new Outriggers and the usual 10-year warranty.

THIEL is also announcing a new webinar series designed separately for dealers, distributors and your customers. This will be an hour-long opportunity to enhance knowledge of THIEL, both the company and the products, as well as educate and engage your customers. A schedule will be posted shortly on THIEL’s web site and within this newsletter next month.

Velodyne Introduces New Flagship Digital DrivePLUS Subwoofers

The Digital DrivePLUS Series subwoofers from Velodyne Acoustics, the world’s leading manufacturer of powered subwoofers, sets new standards in low frequency bass technology with fully automated set-up and integration, huge output, real-time bass performance feedback and elegant cabinetry.  The Digital DrivePLUS subs will be available in October and will be on display in booth 448 and Sound Room SR-6 at the CEDIA show, held September 23 – 26 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

DD+ offers multiple ways to manage bass performance with real-time feedback using Velodyne’s proprietary room management software.  DD+ features Auto-EQPLUS.  Using the included software and microphone, just one touch of a button on the remote or front panel completely automates the seamless blend of subwoofer, system and room within minutes. To manually set-up or fine tune your system, simply connect a laptop to the sub’s USB port and your laptop will display the frequency response, phase, crossover point and slope.  Eight fully parametric equalizers can be manipulated for smooth, even bass output.  Crossovers, slopes, subsonic filters and phase can be adjusted for the primary settings as well as for the five presets while getting feedback in real-time.  A third option to calibrate and fine-tune the subwoofer’s response is to connect the DD+ to a TV screen.  The sub even offers set up controls on the front panel including volume, crossover and Auto-EQPLUS with instantaneous feedback shown on a front panel LED display.

Digital DrivePLUS embodies all of Velodyne’s leading knowledge and experience to produce the industry’s lowest distortion bass.  The DD+ Series utilizes newly engineered drivers with twice the extension of their predecessors. Using Velodyne’s patented digital high-gain servo technology and a Class D, patented Energy Recovery System (ERS) amplifier, delivering over 3000 watts of dynamic power, the DD+ produces the industry’s lowest distortion bass, under ½%, with a 4.5 to 6 dB upgrade in output from the previous Digital Drive Series.

All four models in the Digital DrivePLUS Series (DD-10+, DD-12+, DD-15+ and DD-18+) incorporate massive magnet structures, starting at 35 lbs, fiberglass and Rohacell sandwich cones and six-layer, custom wound voice coils for more output and better heat dissipation.  All the DD+’s technology is wrapped in a stunning contoured cabinet with a choice of gloss ebony featuring an elegant cathedral grain, satin cherry or walnut finish.

“We introduced the original Digital Drive Series in 2003 and it quickly became the universally acknowledged reference standard in bass reproduction,” said Bruce Hall, president of Velodyne.  “We are excited to once again raise the bar, with more low-distortion output, more automated setup, amazing styling, and other new features.  The new DD+ Series really is the culmination of all we have learned in our 27 years of designing subwoofers.”

The Digital DrivePLUS Series have a suggested retail prices of  $2,999 for the DD-10+, $3,499 for the DD-12+, $4,999 for the DD-15+ and $5,999 for the DD-18+.
