It’s that time of the year again…(so don’t get caught)
Yes, there’s a nip in the air (for many of us, even in So Cal). We can look forward to shorter days, cooler nights, and the start of the heating season because we don’t ALL live in So Cal or Florida.
For those who live in areas where there IS a heating season (that’s most people in most areas), many air conditioning systems suddenly become heating systems. The ducts that gave you cold air in July now blow hot air, and if you were using the cold air to cool an A-V system, you may have a problem.
It’s always better to have a dedicated cooling system for home theaters and commercial A-V installations. With a dedicated cooling system, you won’t have unwanted heating in December, or lose cooling in July because the people are cool enough, and turn the A/C off.
Active Thermal Management has a complete line of temperature-controlled systems that can quietly cool anything from a desk drawer to a walk-in closet. Call us at (661) 294-7999 or click HERE to open an email.

FSR’s New DV Wall Plate Interface Allows Analog and Digital Video to Play in the Same Sandbox
Incorporating Legacy Analog and Digital Video into AV Systems Design Just Got Easier
FSR, manufacturer of audio and video switching, control products, and connectivity boxes, has introduced the Digital / Analog Wall Plate Interface -part of the new Digital Video (DV) family – to aid in the design of AV systems that incorporate legacy analog and digital video. The DV Family, aimed at professional installations requiring HDMI support, reduces the integration challenges inherent in the deployment of digital video systems.
The Digital / Analog Interface fits in a standard 2 gang electrical box and has a dual Decora faceplate available in white, black and ivory to match the décor of the installation. It accepts HDMI or DVI input, computer video and analog stereo audio. The wall plate will auto switch between the analog and digital inputs, or it can be manually switched from the front of the interface. The output is HDMI via a CAT 5e or 6 cable and can transmit 1080p up to 165 feet.
FSR offers a variety of HDMI CAT x receivers, switchers and scalars to complete the design.

Hall Research Introduces HDMI Audio Extractor with EDID Mgmt
Hall Research has released the Model EMX-HD-AUD Audio Extractor for HDMI with EDID management, cable equalization, audio and video status indication, and USB port for connection to a PC. This versatile device can be used to extract digital and analog audio from HDMI, extend HDMI cable length, pass-thru or learn EDID from any display, and re-clock both TMDS video and DDC data. The EMX-HD-AUD resolves many system level HDMI signal-chain issues by acting as an intelligent intermediary allowing incompatible components to function properly.
The EMX-HD-AUD can also diagnose and analyze HDMI problems. Multi-color LED’s on the unit indicate EDID routing and provide real-time indication of the HDMI video and audio types. The audio outputs include both analog and multi-channel digital TOSLINK. Each of the audio outputs can be independently muted, including the audio in the HDMI output.
The EMX-HD-AUD constructs an EDID table (capabilities list) for the source either from internal memory or from the connected output. The internal EDID data can be “learned” from the output, or uploaded to it from a PC via the USB port. Free Windows™ PC software is available on the product’s website that allows reading, saving, manipulating, and writing EDID tables to and from the unit.
The EMX-HD-AUD is HDMI 1.3 and 1.4 (deep-color and 3D) compatible, and automatically compensates for the signal degradation caused by long video cable runs of up to 50 ft (15 m) on its input and can drive HDMI cables on its output to 30 ft (10 m).
