Active Thermal Management: The trusted name in thermal protection…
We get a steady stream of questions regarding cooling different types of installations, and we’re glad to get them. To quote that line from The Godfather, “This is the business we have chosen…”
We do occasionally run into problems where the solutions desired would violate one or more laws of thermodynamics, but most can be solved by choosing and installing the right ATM cooling system.
We have written a series of white papers on cooling many of the most popular types of installations. These are available on the Downloads page of our web site. There are eight papers, covering rack, cabinet, and other types of installations, and were written with the integrator and installer in mind.
The papers have no math, are easy to read, and feature line drawings that answer the most popular question “where do I put the fans?”.
You’ll find many of your questions answered in these short papers, but if you need personal technical support from our engineers, call us at (661) 294-7999 M-F, 8:00-4:30 PT, or email email@example.com. For sales-related questions, firstname.lastname@example.org will get you a prompt response.
Need a grille? (No – not the kind you barbecue on…) If you need a grille, bezel, or diffuser to trim a passive ventilation opening, see our wide assortment here. We make it easy to have intake openings match exhaust openings, or to cut a vent slot without having to fill rough edges
Are you an OEM (original equipment manufacturer)? Do you make furniture, RV’s, yachts? If you are, and you have an equipment enclosure that needs cooling or a closet that needs ventilation, talk to ATM about a custom solution. We supply cooling/venting kits to many OEMs, and can put one together for you from our wide selection of fans and thermal controls.
Let our products give your products a competitive edge – call us today for more information.
It’s that time of the year again, and it won’t be long before we’re heading out to Dallas for CEDIA EXPO 2016. We’ll be in booth 5720, and we’ll be expecting you.

Draper Bringing ISF Certification Class to Dallas
Screens can have a major impact on color. When you tinker with the makeup of a screen surface, it throws off how viewers perceive image colors. The people at the Imaging Science Foundation have researched how we see projected and other electronic images, including what impact color, contrast, and other factors have on how we perceive those images. To obtain ISF certification for a screen—such as our TecVision line—is not easy, so when they stamp it certified you know it really is not affecting the colors. At all. Period.
In September, Draper will give you the opportunity to see just what we’re talking about. The week of CEDIA we will be presenting an ISF certification course in Dallas. The three day class will be September 11-13 from 9am-6pm at the Dallas Center for Architecture. To sign up or for more information, contact Amy Madden at email@example.com.
Fortress Seating Named 2016 CE Pro Brand Leader for Third Year
Fortress Seating takes home top honors in the seating category from the industry’s top integrators
Fortress Seating®—leader in home theater, media room, and contract seating—announced today that it has once again been named the CE Pro Brand Leader for Seating, part of the Home Enhancements category.
The award comes from the CE Pro Top 100 highest-revenue residential integration firms, who are surveyed each year to determine their preferred brands in the categories of audio, video, home automation, networking, lighting controls, and more. Each integration firm is given the opportunity to name the brands they supported the year prior. The winning brand is the one that is mentioned by most companies, therefore making it the product leading integration firms use most in that category. This is the third year in a row Fortress Seating has taken home this prestigious honor, a true testament to the brand’s offering.
“We put so much careful detail and attention into crafting every seat, it’s rewarding when the industry’s best-of-the-best integrators recognize our efforts,” says Gabi Wolper of Fortress Seating. “We are extremely honored and thank CE Pro and the CE Pro Top 100. Fortress is proud to be among such great company in terms of other manufacturers; not to mention installed in some of the finest home cinemas in the world, providing luxurious comfort, quality, and style.”
A design-oriented manufacturer with near-endless customization capabilities, Fortress has been providing home theater, lifestyle, and corporate seating since the late 1990s, stressing comfort, design, and quality. Sensing a void in the custom seating market, the company drew upon the experience it gained building commercial seating, giving customers the strongest theater and media room seating options available.
Throughout the month, CE Pro will present each of the categories in detail, including the top five brands and every brand mentioned in a given category.
Those interested in learning more about Fortress Seating are encouraged to view the www.fortresseating.com website, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, call (909) 593-8600, and follow @FortressSeating on Twitter and “Like” Fortress on Facebook.

MOBOTIX Thermographic Technology
MOBOTIX has perfectly combined thermal and optical sensor technology with an intelligent onboard video sensor “MxActivitySensor” to detect objects and persons in complete darkness over hundreds of meters automatically. Recently, MOBOTIX provided a software update free of charge to upgrade existing thermal cameras with thermal spot metering in the image center. This allows absolute temperature measurement within the total range of -40 °C to +550 °C and a typical accuracy of ±10 °C.
TR Thermal Technology & Temperature Events
On top, MOBOTIX has launched a new series of thermal radiometry (TR) models (M15, S15, S15 PTMount) to generate automatic alarms, defined by temperature limits or temperature ranges, which is vital to detect potential fire or heat sources. Up to 20 different temperature triggers can be easily defined within the new TR (Thermal Radiometry) window or the whole sensor image can be used with a typical accuracy of ±10 °C. MOBOTIX thermal dual camera systems offer also thermal overlay to localize the hot spot in the visual image and to prevent bigger damages. The standard Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) compatibility and the market leading low power consumption of only 6 watt allows operation of MOBOTIX thermal camera systems in every situation.
Cost Effective Perimeter Solution
Only one thermal MOBOTIX camera is required to protect a huge outdoor area without the need of any additional illumination. The combination of thermal, video sensor and intelligent software based motion detection like MxActivitySensor are perfectly suited to cover wide perimeter situations efficiently without any secondary equipment like IR-conventional light or additional sensors even in complete darkness.
Pro Control is excited to introduce the latest version of its Pro Control Studio® programming software — version 1.4.2 — which features three new two-way drivers for security panels. For integrators, the new drivers make it simple to provide their customers with intuitive control over select GE, Honeywell, and Elk security panels, while offering powerful automation options when integrated with other smart-home systems.
The new Pro Control drivers enable seamless integration with GE Concord® series security panels using the Interlogix ITI SuperBus 2000 Automation Module; Honeywell VISTA series panels using the 4232CBM Connected Building Module; and Elk M1 series panels. The drivers enable the creation of virtual keypads, allowing users to arm/disarm and check the status of their security system on their Pro Control Pro24.z remote or from an iOS device running the ProPanel app.
When integrated with other smart-home systems, the drivers enable powerful trigger control options. For example, setting the lighting system to the “good night” scene can trigger the security system’s “stay” mode, or televisions can be automatically powered off when motion sensors don’t detect a presence in a room. Additionally, the Elk two-way driver can trigger the security panel to say preprogrammed words or phrases.
Traditionally, programming such functionality has been a very complicated procedure. With Pro Control Studio, however, two-way drivers auto-populate professionally designed templates, eliminating time-consuming tasks for dealers while requiring little additional programming. If an integrator wants to customize an installation, Pro Control Studio provides the option to adjust elements easily within the user interface.
“We’re proud to expand our library of two-way drivers to include GE, Honeywell, and Elk,” said Mike Everett, vice president of sales and marketing, Americas, for RTI and Pro Control. “Security is a key element in any home control solution, and these new drivers allow our dealers to integrate these popular panels in a matter of minutes and bring all of the elements of the home together into a great control experience for their clients.”
Screen Innovations Reinvents the Video Wall
Screen Innovations (SI), the innovators who introduced Black Diamond®, the first-ever ambient-light rejecting screen which revolutionized the video projection screen industry, has announced the introduction of Tiles, a new screen tiling system that redefines the video wall category. Built with the award-winning Black Diamond® screen technology, Tiles can go as large as 288” W by 162” H (330” diagonal), and is 4K/8K+ rated and UHD/HDR ready.
“Black Diamond® has been touted as the best screen that money can buy however, it comes with limitations,” says Skyler Meek, Director of Marketing for SI. “Because of the extreme engineering required to manufacture the optical qualities in the material, it is limited in height. To overcome this, SI has created a system that uses smaller, rigid tiles precision-bonded together in order to create one larger screen.”
To build a Black Diamond® video wall, panels are placed next to each other with a nearly invisible seam, and stacked in a running-bond pattern for superior strength. This is achieved by SI’s all-new, computer controlled cutting system, which is capable of cutting to extremely precise specifications. This attention to detail is what ensures that customers receive the best possible accuracy, quality, and longevity from their tile screens.
To ensure that the installation process is as time-efficient and simple as possible, SI has designed a system that is 75% pre-fabricated; each panel then snaps into place with an attachment system that utilizes neodymium magnets. This installation process allows integrators to assemble a video wall of any size with ease minimizing hassle on the job. All panels are precision-cut and stocked in three sizes: 45”, 50” and 55” for 16:9 and 43”, 48”, and 53” for 16:10.
“What’s so revolutionary about this system,” Skyler Meek continues, “is that there is now a solution for a massive ‘video wall’ type screen without any of the headaches, installation problems, or budget concerns that give integrators nightmares. Tiles require only a single light source, are a breeze to install, and are maintenance free (except for the occasional gentle dusting.) And the technology is future-proofed with 8K+ resolution rating and UHD/HDR capability.”
“Tiles with Black Diamond® are the perfect solution for commercial installations and high traffic areas such as digital signage, restaurants, educational facilities, stadiums, and just about any location where bright, detailed images are critical.”
