Cool that small closet… with a Cool-cube in-line ventilating system. Larger than many of our cabinet cooling systems, smaller than our System 1 in-line air mover, the Cool-cube is available with 4″ or 3″ tubing and is just the right size for cooling either a “coat” size closet with the typical assortment of A-V gear or a video projector (up to about 400 watts) in a soffit or box. There is a 2″ tubing option also, for use only with video projectors.
All Cool-cubes come with a two-speed temperature-sensitive speed control and remote probe, which turns them on in low-speed mode at 90 degrees, switching to full speed at 100 degrees. (In low-speed mode, both the starting temperature and speed are adjustable.)
An important note:
We were talking to an integrator recently who told us he was planning to vent an A/V closet into an adjacent garage. We’ve heard of similar plans before, and have always warned our customers that many localities have strict rules about creating openings between a residence and a garage.
These rules and regulations may vary from place to place, and we’re not experts on the subject, but the potential problems are easy to see. Besides the inconvenience and discomfort of bringing hot or cold air, bugs, and petroleum product odors in from the garage, (not to mention fire!), there is a real possibility of also bringing in carbon monoxide fumes. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and very dangerous gas; it recently killed 4 young adults in Maine who left a gasoline generator running in the basement overnight.
There are always alternatives to venting into the garage, alternatives that would be far safer. Our engineers would be glad to help you find safe ways to lose the heat – and keep the client.

Draper, Inc., has named Amy Madden as the company’s new Residential Market Manager.
Amy has been with Draper for more than 16 years, previously serving various roles including Regional Sales Manager, Sales Support Manager, and Lifts Manager.
“I’m thrilled with this opportunity,” Madden says. “We have a great product mix for this market, especially with the launch of TecVision. We also have great reps, our own Draper reps, and our marketing rep firms in the field! I’m looking forward to getting to know them and work on promoting Draper products in the residential area.”
Amy replaces Bob Hadsell, who has served as Draper’s manager in the residential area for 15 years. Bob isn’t leaving Draper, however; he has taken a new opportunity in the company’s window shade division.
“One of the great advantages of a manufacturer like Draper is that there are so many experienced people here, and Amy Madden is one of the best! Not only does she have extensive product knowledge but in her experience as a Regional Sales Manager, she was actively involved in working with residential integrators. She is uniquely qualified to take our Home Theatre sales to the next level,” Bob said of the move. “In transitioning to this exciting new Draper position away from the AV Department, I know I will miss the great friends I’ve made in the industry. Having Amy assume the responsibilities for Home Theatre makes the transition much easier, because I know the level of commitment will be excellent!”

Selling a monthly service like remote network management is not always easy. But the beautiful thing about Ihiji network monitoring software is that integrators and tech professionals get to decide for themselves how to incorporate the price of Ihijiremote network management services into their business models.
In this real-life example we travel to Oklahoma City, where an AV integration firm is doing network monitoring a little differently. To streamline business and preserve precious manpower, this firm looked to Ihiji to save time and money. When it began to sell client care plans, however, the pushback was significant. But, all was not lost. The company simply adjusted its approach to frontload the cost of offering remote network management services instead of selling a monthly plan. “We’re making the same amount of money, but now we’re making it up front,” says the general manager.
Ihiji Network Monitoring Software Presents Upgrade Opps
Inventively, this AV firmwent back to 20 or 30 of its existing clients—ones who had experienced issues—and offered them its new monitoring package as part of an overall system upgrade. These programs—whether upgrades or new clients—are important because they not only add to the bottom line by drastically reducing the amount of truck rolls, they also produce happier, long-term clients.
“Now, about 80 or 90 percent of our service calls can be taken care of without having to roll a truck,” boasts the general manager. Busywork has been significantly reduced as has associated overhead. Think about it. Wouldn’t your time be better spent growing your company and securing new business?
