Ticketing Intel: Let Ihiji ServiceManager Help You Pinpoint Hardware Trends Always spec the best with insight from Ihiji.
As you may be aware, Ihiji ServiceManager provides the means to capture and resolve client issues with trouble ticket tracking. By providing an easy, standardized way to track all client service calls from start to finish, “Ticketing takes the ‘fires’ created by client issues and puts them into a process that creates visibility and accountability to work toward resolution faster,” writes Ihiji Director of Marketing Steve Muccini.
In addition to making it easier to offer streamlined service to customers through a repeatable process, the ServiceManager ticketing intelligence feature also allows Ihiji Invision users to detect trends with hardware issues. In other words, if an integrator regularly gets calls about a specific failure, and tracks the failure back to a specific device, they are better equipped to take the appropriate action. Depending on the nature of the failure or the number of times the failure has occurred, the integrator might decide to stop using the product and seek an alternative that fills the same need. We live in a data-driven world, and ticketing intelligence gives integrators useful product data that can help them design better systems.
Integrators often base their impressions of equipment reliability on their memories, gut instincts, and even public perceptions of a product. If a product is unfortunate enough to garner a reputation of “always failing,” integrators might not spec that product. Sometimes, however, this reputation is unfounded, or based on older versions of hardware, perhaps before a company made improvements. (We want to be very clear that we are not pointing our fingers at any specific manufacturer here, but just saying that it does happen.)
Here’s one example: Or maybe one piece of equipment, say, a video matrix, works reliably in 90 percent of cases – except when it’s paired with a specific brand LED screen. This is valuable information for integrators to have when designing systems, in that it helps ensure interoperability and reduces the chances for service issues down the road.
By analyzing data captured by Ihiji ServiceManager, integrators can detect trends in hardware failures, abandon their preconceived notions, and view analytics to help them spec the best-performing hardware for any given situation.
ServiceManager: Take Proactive Service to the Next Level
Ihiji Invision already allows technology professionals to be proactive regarding firmware issues. For instance, OneVision Resources, a white-label service provider for smart-home integrators and an Ihiji dealer, recently ran into a situation where Invision detected a firmware issue in a number of customers’ homes. The dealer was able to log in remotely and fix the issue everywhere it occurred, saving upwards of 40 truck rolls.
Now, imagine the power of Ihiji ServiceManager and its ticketing intelligence feature, which can help technology professionals predict hardware issues by tracking customer service calls and service ticket resolutions.
When a call comes in, you can quickly look back at the history of not just that customer’s home, but homes with similar systems, to determine the most likely source of the problem. No more finger-pointing, no more blaming specific equipment without proof, but rather, a streamlined troubleshooting process that saves technology professionals time and creates happier customers.
“To provide that level of service you require technology that allows you to monitor the system,” says OneVision Resources founder Joseph Kolchinsky in this video. “You need to get proactive alerts if there’s an issue, and you need to be able to troubleshoot remotely. Ihiji Invision allows us to do that.”
Now, Ihiji ServiceManager takes these capabilities a step further, permitting technology professionals to detect trends in hardware – and how hardware operates within a specific system utilizing multiple brands – and to be even more proactive in preventing problems by starting at the design stage with the best combination of equipment.
“The client experience guides everything we do, and that is true for most home technology professionals,” says Kolchinsky. “Ihiji solutions allow us to offer a high level of service and experience for the client.”

Monitor Audio Full Size Luxury In-Wall Speakers
Monitor Audio has expanded its comprehensive and versatile architectural speaker range with two new flagship ‘Controlled Performance’ models. The new, luxury CP-IW260X and CP-IW460X in-wall speakers introduce the company’s latest drive-unit technologies in compact three-way, five-driver configurations, built into closed-box designs to deliver the optimum combination of state-of-the-art audio performance and near-invisible installation.
Behind their ‘stealthy’ trimless grilles the CP IWX models follow a no-compromise engineering philosophy for true audiophile music and home theatre sound reproduction. These luxury CP in-wall speakers offer high efficiency and power handling for class-leading sound pressure levels, combined with the dynamic wide-band response, deep bass extension and low distortion usually expected of specialized floor-standing speakers. The CP-IW260X and 460X feature Monitor Audio’s signature C-CAM cone material (with the 460X using RST ‘dimpled’ cone technology, which uses concentric dimples to further strengthen their radiating surfaces) deployed in dual 6.5” bass drivers and twin 4” midrange drivers astride a tweeter in a symmetrical ‘B-M-T-M-B’ configuration.
For the first time in a Monitor Audio in-wall speaker, the range-topping CP-IW460X employs a version of the high frequency ribbon transducer from the company’s acclaimed Gold and flagship Platinum speaker lines. The ribbon can be rotated to accommodate horizontal and vertical installation, and being ultra-light and with no break-up, the ribbon displays extraordinary detail retrieval across a wide and linear response, which extends beyond 50 KHz to reproduce perhaps the most neutral and natural high frequency performance available from any in-wall speaker design. The CP-IW260X uses the latest generation 1” Gold Dome tweeter, which employs a specially vented housing to reduce air pressure behind the dome for lower resonance, optimum damping and greater accuracy over a wider range.

Tributaries Aurora – Fiber Optic 18Gbps HDMI Cable
Tributaries is proud to announce Aurora – a Fiber Optic HDMI cable certified by DPL Labs to transport HDMI signals at data rates up to 18Gbps over cable lengths from 10m (32.8ft) to 30m (98.4ft).
With the arrival of UHD Premium content, 4K/60, 10-bit color with HDR, the necessity of an HDMI cable that can carry data rates of 18Gbps has become critical. Currently, Kaleidescape has available for download from their Store UHD movies with HDR/10-bit content. To successfully play this content requires cables capable of transporting data rates of 18Gbps.
Engineered as a hybrid fiber optic cable, Aurora is a marvel of electro- optical engineering combining the best of worlds, glass and copper. Glass transports the video/audio/clock and control signals while the copper carries the Digital Display Channel (DDC) responsible for the 2-way communication of EDID and HDCP. The components required for the electrical/optical/electrical conversions are efficiently contained in the connector headshells. Power is provided by the included 5V power supplies which can be connected via USB or 120VAC receptacles.
The brain of the cable, originally designed for military applications, is an optical microchip encased in the HDMI source-connector. Imbedded in the microchip are 4 vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, VCSELs, semiconductor-based laser diodes that emit a highly efficient optical beam vertically from its top surface. Each TMDS modulated beam is reflected in a mirror aimed at one of 4 multimode glass fiber optic channels. The channels are surrounded by highly reflective OM3 (10G) cladding. The sink-end connector houses the Photo Diode receptors that decode the TMDS modulated light beams and convert them back to an electrical HDMI signal.
Aurora cables are available now in limited quantities at lengths of 10m, 15m, 20m, 25m and 30m. All are certified by DPL Labs to 18Gbps.
