Popularity of Autonomic Mirage Audio System yields significantly lowered MSRP and enhanced dealer profitability

Record breaking sales in 2014 and the growing popularity of the Mirage Audio System has enabled Autonomic to leverage economies of scale in raw materials acquisition and assembly, which it is passing on to its dealers and their customers.

The Mirage Audio System (MAS) is a combination of Mirage Music Players and Mirage Audio Amplifiers. There are several whole-house audio packages available with as few as four audio zones all the way up to an unlikely, but impressive 96 zones.

Autonomic offers two intelligent whole-house amplifier solutions—one with outputs for four stereo zones (M-400) and the other with outputs for eight stereo zones (M-800). Both amplifiers deliver 100-Watts per zone. Mirage amplifiers also offer an array of source inputs (6 on the M-400, 8 on the M-800) and include extensive zone linking capabilities. In addition to connecting an Autonomic Mirage Music Player, the supplemental inputs enable easy integration of sources such as a cable or satellite set top box, CD player or other devices. As a complete central sound solution, the Mirage Audio System is the best choice for integrators.

Autonomic now offers package pricing that’s actually less expensive on a cost per zone basis than popular consumer-oriented products. The Mirage Audio System realizes a cost per zone efficiency as the system increases in size. Autonomic is delivering more features and better performance than the competition with products sold exclusively through the custom integration channel.

Autonomic also introduced a new premier dealer program that provides enhanced benefits to dedicated integrators of all sizes supporting the Mirage Audio System. Perks such as enhanced margins, demo system discounts, and free shipping are intended to reward dealers for growing their business with the Autonomic brand.

New assortment of exquisite artisanal shading textiles expands Crestron’s custom motorized shades offerings.

Crestron today announced it has partnered with Hartmann & Forbes to offer Crestron Shading Solutions in a new assortment of lavish hand-woven textiles.

Exclusively for Crestron dealers
Hartmann-Forbes_PR_Room-CubeThis exclusive collection of hand-woven textiles designed specifically for use with Crestron roller shade systems, are designed for individuals who appreciate the benefit of handcrafted products created by artisans with a meticulous eye for detail. The entire collection features natural fibers sustainably grown and artfully hand loomed. Crafted with pride and infused with a rich sense of tradition, each custom weave brings a natural warmth, elegance, and refinement to any room.

With 40 premium textiles to choose from, the Crestron Hartmann & Forbes collection offers five color stories, from pure white to rich chocolate browns and grays. All fabrics are woven to order, so dealers should budget 12-15 weeks for shade delivery.

Given the custom nature of these shades, Crestron requires dealers to answer a brief questionnaire and complete an online training course prior to their first purchase.

Live Training
Crestron is offering its dealers live training sessions on March 24th, presented by Hartmann & Forbes, during which they will be introduced to the world of hand-woven textiles and the enrollment process. A Q&A session will be held afterward. Crestron dealers can register online for one of the two time slots − 11:00AM EST or 4:00PM EST − or by calling 1-855-53-S-H-A-D-E (537-4233).

Luxul is making the Wireless Roam Seamless!

Luxul is proud to announce the release of the highly anticipated XWC-1000 Wireless Controller – shipping at the end of April 2015!

One of the biggest pain points in residential AV and home automation is the dreaded wireless roam.  In environments that require multiple wireless access points, mobile clients such as smart phones and tablets do not automatically jump from one access point to another as users move between coverage areas.  These devices are designed to be “sticky”, meaning once they associate with an access point, they remain connected to that access point long after it would have been better off connecting to a closer one with a stronger signal.

Luxul-XWC-1000-1The new Luxul Wireless Controller is purpose-built to ensure seamless roaming of mobile client devices within wireless networks of more than one Luxul WAP.  As devices move from one wireless coverage zone to the next coverage zone, the Luxul Wireless Controller will ensure that a smooth and seamless handoff occurs – automatically, without user intervention.  Additionally, the Controller provides centralized management and deployment of up to 16 Luxul access points through an easy-to-use, wizard-driven interface.  All of this at a price that is around 25% of market leading wireless controllers.

The Wireless Controller will be made available exclusively through Luxul Authorized distributors in three product options:

  • XWC-1000 – The stand alone Controller
  • XWS-1310 – The Controller bundled with three XAP-310 access points and 4-Port PoE Switch
  • XWS-2500 – The controller bundled with two XAP-1500’s (PoE injectors included)

The XWC-1000 is compatible with the XAP-310, XAP-1210, XAP-1230, and XAP-1500 and will start shipping at the end of April!

My business card says Ross Whitney Technical Sales and Support. During the course of my day I often am asked questions that are quite technical in nature. There are a few brilliant people whose work I refer to when I am called upon to explain the complexities of our product lines. Power conditioning and power management are often misunderstood but I find that by consulting some of these technical works I can provide my customers with a better understanding of our products and the value they represent. I invite you to share your thoughts on these articles and others you feel should be noted.

Arthur Kelm’s work is at the top of my list. Arthur designed the Torus Power All-In-One panel and he’s a big fan of Torus Power products. Quote: “Torus Power engineering, sales, marketing and product support are all done under one roof in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  If I have technical questions I can get connected to engineering right after speaking with sales.  Torus Power transformers are literally wound onsite exclusively for Torus Power.  Frankly, Torus Power has such a wide breadth of products that I can tailor-fit each power system with the standard options available to any dealer.”

Read the ‘Clean Power’ white paper on Arthur’s website and follow that with his Mix Magazine interviews here and here. His whole site is a gold mine:

Some of the most influential work in the field of clean power and reduction of hum and noise has been done by Bill Whitlock. Bill’s presentation ‘An Overview of Audio System Grounding & Interfacing’ is available here. Bill is also one of the contributors to the soon-to-be-released 5th edition of the Handbook for Sound Engineers.

Finally, and more specifically to Torus Power products, at the heart of every Torus Power unit there is a Plitron toroidal transformer. These are not ordinary transformers, not even ordinary toroidal transformers. Brian Gladstone (now retired) and Henry Pajooman, Ph.D. and lead research engineer at Plitron, wrote the definitive article on Plitron’s Narrow Bandwidth Technology (NBT). The article includes mathematical formulae, illustrations and diagrams that demonstrate why the Plitron transformers found in every Torus Power unit are unique and ideal for the task of providing clean power and solid protection.
