fed1CONCORD, CA – JANUARY 30, 2009 – D-Tools, Inc., the worldwide leader in system integration software, today announced that Federal Technologies Unlimited, an Abu Dhabi-based design and technology integration company is improving business efficiencies while reducing design time and costs by 50% through the use of D-Tools’ award-winning System Integrator software. Based out of Abu Dhabi, and founded in 1998, Federal Technologies Unlimited is a full service system integration company specializing in high-end audio/video systems, distributed audio/video systems, security, lighting systems and automations systems for both residential and commercial environments.

“D-Tools SI5 provides us with a standard platform to ensure that all our designers have the same consistency in the way they approach our client projects,” said Marwan Moubarak, Managing Director for Federal Technologies Unlimited. “The software helps us align our proposals to our CAD drawings, helps us better track revisions and most importantly has helped improve our accuracy – both in the initial bid and in the actual installed systems. We believe that we have improved our accuracy by 100% – and we feel that we have cut our design time in half – we are designing highly accurate systems twice as fast as we were before.”

Most of Federal Technologies Unlimited projects are on a design/build basis. Prior to using D-Tools SI5 they were experiencing pain managing projects that would last longer than a year. They were experiencing inaccuracies with the systems they were building and using Excel to create projects with often thousands of items which required many revisions – resulting in many errors. Said Moubarak, “The project durations in this country are extremely long. As a company our project scopes are very wide – from home automation to commercial AV to security systems. It was becoming too painful for us to manage this wide range of projects in excel – we were losing money on projects and burning our people out – we maintained a high level of customer service so we were able to keep the clients happy – but it came as a great cost to us which could have been avoided.”

Federal Technologies Unlimited originally purchased the software back in 2003 after seeing it demonstrated at a trade show. But the company didn’t put an implementation plan in place and shelved the software. “We re-visited the software once we started to re-evaluate our business process and discovered that the D-Tools sales team was willing to support us as existing customers,” said Moubarak. “We looked at their latest version (SI5) and discovered that it had more of the business features that we felt would help us be successful.”

Federal Technologies enlisted the help of D-Tools Certified Partner Media Environment Design (MED) to assist them in implementing the software, training their employees, and rolling it out to their organization. Said Moubarak, “We worked with Ryan Brown from MED for training and implementation. Ryan has an in-depth knowledge of D-Tools and has a wealth of experience and best practices learned from helping other integrators. He helped us ensure that we set up our system in way that best fits our business. He is a great listener and did not take a “one size fits all approach.” He advised us of the pros and cons of every decision that we were to make in terms of our implementation.”

As a result of implementing D-Tools SI5 into its business, Federal Technologies Unlimited is experiencing an overall reduction of installation costs of 10% in addition to reducing their design time by 50%. Overall satisfaction from their internal teams has also increased by at least 50% – “”We are experiencing less stress, better teamwork, and improved visibility on project,” said Moubrarak.

“Another benefit for us is that we see that it will make it easier for us to implement our business strategy over the next 5 years – which is based on regional and international growth.
