Atlona® Introduces the Atlona Academy Training Program

Atlona® Kicks Off New Training Events and Educational Resources for the A/V Industry

Atlona®, a leading digital connectivity solutions provider, today introduced the Atlona Academy for its international and domestic dealers, distributors, and reps. The academy consists of a series of regional and online training events and programs designed to increase awareness of Atlona products and innovations, as well as new and emerging A/V technologies and opportunities.

At Atlona Academy training events, a variety of industry experts will provide the company’s channel partners with time- and overhead-savings tips, in-depth usage case examples of Atlonaproducts, and an understanding of what is coming in A/V technology. The Atlona Academy program will also offer a series of new certification levels for select dealers, resellers, and integrators.

“Through the Atlona Academy, we want to help our channel partners not only to be successful in presenting information on our products, but also to be able to offer valuable insight and recommendations about the latest technologies and trends that are shaping our industry,” said Kevin Billingsley, sales director at Atlona.

Each Atlona Academy training event offers a concise focus on specific products and technologies, including HDBaseT™ technology, matrix switchers, HDMI extenders, HDMI testing kits, and much more. The academy will kick off on Nov. 29 and 30 with one-hour online webinars covering HDBaseT technology and Atlona’s HDMI testing kits. These webinars will be followed by an invitation-only Atlona Academy Regional Training Event in San Francisco on Dec. 7. The regional event will offer select partners in the area hands-on and presentation-based information that provides a broader and deeper overview of the company and its products.

“We created the Atlona Academy because there is too much confusion for end users in today’s consumer electronics market,” said AtlonaPresident and CEO Ilya Khayn. “These days, most consumers have less money to spend on A/V technology, and they deserve to be made aware of the advantages that only Atlonacan provide. By educating our dealers, distributors, and reps, we are also educating their customers, helping to ensure that the money they invest in A/V technology is well-spent.”

More information and immediate registration for upcoming Atlona Academy training events is available at http://www2.atlona.com/l/9782/2011-11-02/172L.

Kramer Introduces the VM-114H4C, 2×1:4 HDMI/DGKat™ Digital Switcher, Twisted Pair Transmitter and Distribution Amplifier

Kramer Electronics is pleased to introduce the high-performance VM-114H4C, the first digital switcher/distribution amplifier in a family of new digital switchers featuring varying output combinations. The VM-114H4C accepts two input signals, one HDMI and one DGKat (HDMI over twisted pair), and switches between these two inputs while outputting the signal selected over four identical DGKat outputs.

The VM-114H4C features Kramer’s I-EDIDPro™ Intelligent EDID Processing™, an EDID handling & processing algorithm that ensures plug and play operation for HDMI systems. The unit can utilize a default EDID or it can read and store in non-volatile memory the EDID block from any output display device. It can then provide the EDID information to the source even if the display device is not connected, ensuring that the source sends the proper signal to the display device being used.

The VM-114H4C features Kramer’s Equalization & re-Klocking™ technology, which rebuilds the digital signal so that it can travel longer distances.  With a maximum data rate of 2.25 Gbps per graphics channel, the VM-114H4C supports 3D Pass-through, Deep Color, x.v.Color™ and uncompressed audio channels (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD). It is HDCP and HDTV compatible.

The VM-114H4C requires the use of shielded twisted pair (STP) cable, and is recommended to be used with Kramer’s BC−DGKat524, BC−DGKat623 or BCP−DGKat724 cables, to ensure optimum range and performance. The unit supports a range of up to 90m (295ft) at 1080i/SXGA resolution, or up to 30m (98ft) at 1080p/UXGA resolution when used with Kramer’s shielded BC-DGKat524 cable.  It supports a range of up to 90m (295ft) at 1080i resolution, and up to 70m (230ft) at 1080p/UXGA when used with Kramer BC-DGKat623 and BCP-DGKat724 cables. The VM-114H4C is compatible with Kramer’s PT-571/572+ and TP-573/574 family of DGKat receivers and transmitters.

The unit is housed in a compact desktop size enclosure and can be rack mounted in a 1U rack space with an optional RK−1 adapter. It has active LEDs indicating the selected input and power status.  It also has flexible control options and can be controlled via its front panel buttons, RS−232 commands from an external controller, or through its front panel infrared control sensor.

Pakedge’s New W5L Wireless Access Point and Controller With Residential Virtual Cell Technology Provides Reliable, Seamless Wi-Fi Roaming

Pakedge Device & Software today announced the introduction of its W5L Wireless Access Point and Controller, which incorporates the company’s exclusive Residential Virtual Cell Technology to enable multiple wireless access points in a large home network to function as a single “virtual” wireless access point (WAP) and enable seamless Wi-Fi roaming for an iPad®, touch panel, VoIP Wi-Fi phone or other portable device.

Wireless home networks that cover a large area require multiple WAPs to achieve adequate coverage. However, when a person moves from the coverage area of one wireless access point to another, there is typically an interruption in service as one WAP “hands off” to another. The result is an interrupted video stream, phone call or data stream, or lost commands from a touch panel.

The Pakedge W5L and its accompanying CTL-W5N Wireless Virtualization Management Controller provide an innovative, cost-effective and extremely reliable solution. The W5L and CTL-W5N use Residential Virtual Cell Technology to link the operation of all the wireless access points in a network together so that they all appear as a single wireless access point to a device (client). The result is glitch-free roaming over the entire home network, because with Virtual Cell Technology the client device always “sees” a single WAP and never has to initiate a handoff (as in conventional Wi-Fi systems).

A single dedicated “virtual WAP” is created for each client on the network. This dedicated WAP can be customized to the client around speed and bandwidth, to optimize the performance of the applications the device needs to run. Similar to a wired Ethernet port, this “virtual port” eliminates latency, jitter and competition for bandwidth, since there is always only one client on each “wireless” port.

The W5L is compact and easy to install in custom installation audio/video systems and home networks. It features six simultaneous dual-band radios with omnidirectional antennas, for reliable operation even in larger homes. The W5L is preconfigured to work with Pakedge routers and VLAN (virtual local area network) switch solutions, and provides centralized configuration and management and multilayer security and scalability, while eliminating co-channel interference and the need for channel planning. If additional WAPs are plugged into the network, they will automatically configure.

The W5L offers useful monitoring capabilities including self-monitoring, and real-time and cumulative performance metrics for individual wireless devices, access points and the network as a whole, all from a single interface.

The W5L is powered by a standard 802.3af Power-over Ethernet (PoE) power source. It supports all 802.11a/b/g/n devices, with 802.11n support in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands using 40MHz channel bonding.

The Pakedge Residential Virtual Cell Wi-Fi fi system is sold as a kit which includes a quantity of W5L Wireless Access Points, a power over Ethernet switch and CTL-W5N Wireless Virtualization Management Controller and is available now Please contact sales@pakedge.com for pricing.

Wisdom Audio Sage Series In-Wall Loudspeakers Internationally Ranked as the Choice for Audiophiles and Designers Alike

– The Sage Series in-wall loudspeakers are not only recognized for their contemporary designs and ability to integrate beautifully within fine décors, but continue to receive high praise for their amazing sound

Wisdom Audio announced today that their Sage Series high performance in-wall loudspeakers have been given top honors in sound quality and design by several publications, making this lineup one of the most coveted among audiophiles worldwide.  Regarded as one of the best sounding speakers of all time, the Sage Series is designed to seamlessly integrate into a contemporary home theater or multi-purpose listening room.

Recently, AudiophileReview ranked the Sage Series on its list of “25 Ultimate Audiophile Speakers of All Time.”  The list was ranked based on performance, longevity/relevance, value, and lust, with the Sage Series taking top billing in each category, earning them the number 6 spot on the highly regarded roster.  The Sage Series has also been the recipient of Custom Retailer’s EXC!TE Award, Australia’s Sound + Image Award, China’s Super AV Magazine’s Premier Award, China’s Home Theater Tech Magazine’s Best Buy Award, HomeTheaterReview’s Best In-Wall Speakers, Residential Systems Resi Award, and CE Pro’s BEST Award.

“Oh yes we did. We put an in-wall speaker system on the list. Wisdom Audio deserves it as they are making a serious run at the likes of Wilson Audio, Bowers & Wilkins and others with their line of in-wall speakers,” said AudiophileReview editors.  “No speaker on this list is better on WAF (wife acceptance factor) than the Wisdom Audio Sage Series. We know a few dealers that would make the argument that there might NOT be a better sounding speaker on the list – period.”

“We are honored to be included in this prestigious list of world-class loudspeakers,” said Mark Glazier, Wisdom Audio President.  “Clients worldwide have previously had to compromise between the desirable integration of inferior sounding in-wall speakers, and the design compromise of living with speakers that dominate the room to enjoy the quality sound quality they’re looking for. Our Sage Series offers an unprecedented solution, providing them both world-class performance, and architectural design.”

Wisdom Audio enjoys a proud heritage among loudspeaker companies, having produced some of the most highly regarded loudspeakers in history. After more than two years of development, the Sage Series brings this remarkable performance to market with in-wall, on-wall, and freestanding solutions. Tall and slim, these loudspeakers offer sophisticated, understated elegance that can either complement or virtually disappear from the room as needed.
