Crestron to Bring 4K Confidence to Integrators and End Users with new Certification Program
As 4K Ultra HD source devices and displays come to market, people that specify, purchase, design, and install custom AV systems are asking the same question: “Which products will work with my distributed 4K system?”
To help facilitate a smooth transition to 4K UHD, Crestron, the most trusted name in AV distribution technology, will introduce its 4K Certification program. Under this industry-first program, manufacturers can submit their 4K sources and displays to Crestron to ensure that they:
– Interface with DigitalMedia™ to handle cable lengths found in integrated AV systems
– Work with other 4K products in a DigitalMedia system
“Compatibility issues between different brands, new cable length limitations, and mismatched resolutions all have the potential to compromise a 4K distribution system,” said Justin Kennington, Technology Manager for DigitalMedia. “Crestron 4K Certification is our guarantee that sources and displays meet the demands of a 4K distributed system.”
Crestron engineers in the DigitalMedia Lab rigorously test 4K products to ensure they work in a matrix-switched environment. Only those that do are awarded the Crestron 4K Certified logo.
Now, for integrators and end users, finding a database of 4K products they can trust is as simple as visiting crestron.com/4K.

HydraConnect is very pleased to be a new member of the D-Tools MVP program. At Cedia 2013, HydraConnect showed its latest generation of matrix processors including the world’s first affordable HDMI Matrix switches with built-in HDMI audio stripping and DSP Dolby Digital down-mixing capabilities. The HMA-8x8BT and HM-16x16BT are both now shipping and easily support mixed stereo and multichannel zones. Each zone receives the correct stereo or multichannel audio stream automatically and simultaneously from the same source.
Both new units have a full 16 output analog audio matrix built in. There are 32 DSPs on our new audio board to support down-mixing of every HDMI input and lip-sync, tone, balance, and volume on every digital and analog DSP output. Click here to see a full explanation of HydraConnect’s DSP technology.
The HydraConnect line of switches also supports CEC control of each capable device with our patented CEC control. All commands are automatically sent in the device’s native format (Anynet, Bravia Link, etc.). CEC commands are a two way communication to each device, and provide reliable control. Stray commands, such as the off command from a DVD player, are stopped at the switch to avoid the previous pitfalls of CEC control. Finally, your control system is in control of all your CEC devices. With HydraConnect CEC technology, you can eliminate the IR bugs on all your displays and CEC compatible sources and receivers.
With Active Dynamic EDID, our switches easily support mixed 2D and 3D environments. The integrated commercial grade LINUX computer provides the processing power to make intelligent switch decisions based on the equipment connected. This makes HydraConnect the first truly managed HDMI matrix. All of these features are automatic based on the equipment detected during the setup of the switch. No more lengthy programming!
Our easy web based interface makes setup fast and easy and has a full set of testing capabilities built in. With only three clicks of a mouse, the basic setup is completed on a HydraConnect switch. Cloud Based Updates and remote support are built-in to every switch.
All of HydraConnect’s Matrix products are made in the USA and offer a 5 Year Limited Warranty with Advance Replacement for the full 5 years.

Now Shipping: Leaf LTXP64 6×4 HDMI Matrix Switch
Enhancing the Leaf product family is the innovative entry-level Leaf 6×4 HDMI Matrix Switch, competitively priced and ready for installation within custom residential and commercial projects
Leaf, a leading manufacturer of HD audio/video distribution and switching solutions, has announced the sophisticated LTXP64 is now shipping. Designed with the needs of today’s custom integrator in mind, the 6×4 HDMI Matrix is capable of switching 6 unique HDMI sources to 4 independent zones, while supporting full 1080P/60 resolution, 3D, and Dolby Digital and DTS-HD audio formats.
The 1RU Rack Space makes the LTXP64 easy to install and with the help of Leaf’s EZ-Calibration system, set-up is a breeze. To minimize EDID errors, the LTXP64 also boasts Leaf’s unique Zone Lock feature, which provides the ability to lock a source to a particular zone, allowing the passage of specific EDID data and ensuring that the display and source correctly interact. With a sleek frontdesign, the LTXP64 can be controlled simply via front panel buttons while maintaining its ability to be integrated into most common control systems via IP or RS232 Control.
“The development of the 6×4 HDMI Matrix Switch spawned from a critical need for us to build a high quality solution that could add real value for our dealers and their installations,” said Danny Webb, North American Sales and Marketing Manager for Leaf. “In your typical installation a 4×4 solution simply isn’t enough, however integrators don’t necessarily want to resort to a 6×6 or 8×8 that will unnecessarily inflate their customer’s project budget. With the 6×4, dealers get the unrelenting power and flexibility they need while end-users benefit from a reliable solution at an economical price.”
Manufactured and thoroughly tested to meet the highest standards for performance and dependability, the LTXP64 also contains Control4® Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) software, making integration within a Control4 automation system easy and seamless. Furthermore, when combined with the new Leaf LTPTP-F HDBaseT Extender Solution, integrators can distribute the 6×4’s HDMI signals up to 100m (330ft). This combination enhances the power and reach of their AV installations while providing a truly comprehensive, versatile experience.
The Leaf LTXP64 has an introductory US MSRP of $1,999 and is currently available for purchase through authorized Control4 dealers and direct through Leaf.

Designed to add deep bass frequencies to architectural speaker systems, Monitor Audio’s new in-wall subwoofer design is an amalgam of sophisticated IWS-10 sub-woofer driver, IWA-250 amplifier and IWB-10 back box.
To provide excellent bass depth with maximum installation flexibility the IWS-10 subwoofer driver is a highly specialised design employing an extraordinarily rigid, flat 10” surface of 10mm (3/8”) RDT® material devised for Monitor audio’s acclaimed ‘Platinum’ series of high-end speakers. The resulting properties of low mass and great strength give the driver the ability to behave as an extremely agile piston, resistant to bending, light enough to deliver an accurate bass response through large excursions, even within a shallow 81mm profile.
Consequently the IWS-10 is sufficiently well specified to generate excellent bass quality in a range of wall, ceiling, even floor locations, ideally but not exclusively with its IWB-10 back box, providing wider retrofit possibilities. It features Monitor Audio’s patented Tri-grip® clamping system which is easier to install and provides three times the surface area of a conventional dog-leg type clamp, offering better overall surface sealing. The IWS-10’s trim-less grille and frame edge are paintable to blend discreetly with décor.
When used with the IWB-10 back box, the IWS-10 return optimum ‘controlled’ performance. The IWB-10 is a sealed pre-construction back box, built from MDF and laminated with a rugged black Sandex vinyl finish. While providing the ideal environment for the driver, the IWB-10 will also reduce the radiation of sound to adjacent rooms.
Completing the trinity is the IWA-250 Class D switch mode amplifier – a slim, powerful dedicated design in a heavy-duty 1U rack mount case. Delivering up to 250watts into 4 ohms, a single IWA-250 will power single or dual IWS-10s to provide higher power levels for larger rooms or to meet customer demands.
