D-Tools Furthers Standardization, Fully Integrates Industry Standard J-STD-710 Audio, Video, and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols into System Integrator™ Software Platform
J-STD-710 Industry Standard Architectural Drawing Symbols are used to represent all facets of audio, video, and control pre-wire and installation for system designs, blueprints, or schematics, and are consistent with those used by Architects, Builders, Interior Designers, and other Professional trades
CONCORD, CA, USA – APRIL 09, 2014 — D-Tools Inc., the worldwide leader in system integration software, today announced full integration of Industry Standard J-STD-710 Audio, Video, and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols into the D-Tools System Integrator™ electronic system estimation, design, and documentation software platform. Straightforward and easily-recognized, J-STD-710 Audio, Video, and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols represent all facets of audio, video, and control pre-wire and installation for system designs, blueprints, or schematics, and are consistent with symbols used by Builders, Architects, Interior Designers, CE Manufacturers, Electronic Systems Contractors, and other professional trades.
“Integrating industry standard J-STD-710 Architectural Drawing Symbols into the D-Tools System Integrator™ platform allows electronic systems integrators to provide an effective means for producing professional-looking, easily recognized proposals and design documentation that allows them to compete at a higher level and win more bids,” said Adam Stone, President and Founder of D-Tools. “Not only does standardization provide extensive value to every entity involved in a given installation, it will soon be a service that systems integrators will be required to provide. Essentially, we’re giving integrators a leg-up on their competition by encouraging the early adoption of industry standardized.”
Within the D-Tools System Integrator platform, J-STD-710 implementation consists of nine categories of Autodesk® AutoCAD symbols– including mount type and device options for each symbol–that D-Tools has converted into nine separate Microsoft® Visio stencils. The categories include Audio Video, Communications, Control, Electrical, Electronic Safety and Security, Furnishings, Generic, HVAC, and Vacuum Cleaning Systems.
The new D-Tools J-STD-710 stencils are available now for download and use by authorized System Integrator users, who can access these and other D-Tools stencil updates by clicking on the Download Stencil update link in the SIX toolbar in Visio.
By adopting and utilizing the J-STD-710 Audio, Video, and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols into their system design and documentation practices, electronic systems integrators will more clearly communicate with project partners across different trades. Not only does this new standard provide needed clarity and consistency between project partners, it also provides systems integrators an opportunity to compete for bids at a higher level, earn and maintain project access, streamline processes, and boost their bottom line.
