I agree completely with everything that has been said about NetSuite. It is an evil, greedy bunch of no product knowledge, pushy salesman that do nothing without money up front. I do not recommend them to anyone, for anything.

peterp. Like I mentioned in the posts I do not know what the truth is as far as NS holding data hostage except what was said to me by a paid "expert", other peoples written experiences and NetSuites lack of data export or backup functionality as compared to other CRM systems

As far as I can tell SF.com is a great company and has a great product and should be considered when making a decision about any CRM system.

I am not writing this to place blame, I am writing this so hopefully others can learn from my expensive mistakes.

I think I agree with johnnyw here. The dude on the vm, the way I understand it, is the dude who you spent 30K with to get no where with. I do not think his position on this is valid. I would chalk it up to an experience of life and move on. I do not think netsuite or skytek intentionally set out to hold your data hostage. It seems like you have just made a string of very bad decisions on the behalf of your company and unfortunately you are accountable for it. It does seem you blaming everyone though. even sf.com came into the mix and they have a very good crm product and a great reputation.

jonnyw Read why we left NetSuite part 2 http://www.d-toolsblog.com/?p=213 and how NetSuite uses data lock in. as a negotiating tactic. http://www.d-toolsblog.com/?p=214

Make sure you listen to the voice mail attached to the post. I am not a data extraction expert but that guy claims to be one and he said he has seen this tactic before.

I admit it was a very expensive mistake both joining AND leaving NetSuite. I just hope that others can learn from my mistake and ultimately NetSuite will stop these deceptive business practices.
